Irene Presti is the woman behind almost all of the current Latin America’s initiatives in 3D Printing. She co-founded Like3D, a platform that provides design to 3d print solutions, but she also initiated and presides the Argentinian Association of 3D Printing and puts together the 3D Fashion Day every year. Cathy Lewis was the Chief Marketing Officer for 3D Systems from 2009 to mid 2016. Before that, she used to be the CEO for Desktop Factory from 2006 to 2009, placing her as one of the pioneer in the 3D Printing industry as we know it today. I believe we can even say that more than a pioneer, her role as C.M.O at 3D Systems placed her as one of the most influential person in the industry over the last 10 years.
Something really exciting is happening right now in the 3D printing industry. It’s called the Within Reach Design Challenge (#WithinReach3DP Challenge on social media). It is a collaboration between open source prosthetic design organization enablingthefuture.org, 3D printing retailer and developers of MatterControl MatterHackers, 3D printer manufacturer Ultimaker and 3D design marketplace Pinshape.
Katherine is an innovator, a mother, a maker, an entrepreneur. She built a live-streaming 3D printing platform, MyMultiExtruder, on which she shares her 3D printing experiences. Just as we were all beginners at some time, Katherine experienced failed prints and frustration. This is what she is interested in documenting through her platform. Kasia is a fashion and accessories designer. Before entering the 3D Printing world, she used to work in fashion for several years. A couple of years ago, she created her own brand, Collected Edition. Beside being gorgeous pieces of jewelry and accessories, her creations are brought to live thanks to a mix of traditional handcraft and 3D printing technologies. No need to say that we love her work!
Darlene Farris-LaBar is both an associate professor of art at East Stroudsburg University and an internationally known artist who makes art about the natural environment. Her creations are not only beautiful but they also serve as educational tools in order to provide awareness about the vulnerability of the environment.
Christina Douk has a passion for 3D modeling and 3D printing. She started getting her hands into it in 2011 and since then, she created several characters that personally echo my own imaginary world. You can see some of her work on her website and below in this article.
