Ulendo doubles the speed of 3D printers

Would you like to be a visionary for a technical team that is revolutionizing the 3D printing industry?

As a pioneer in Additive Manufacturing (3D printing), Ulendo currently provides software solutions that significantly improve the speed and accuracy of 3D printers by addressing vibration issues.  We will soon be adapting our patented technology to address vibration issues with industrial robots.

We are searching for a talented R&D engineer who can work with our founder, Dr. Chinedum Okwudire, to advance state of the art mechatronic and motion control systems. In this role, you will execute scientific or engineering research, generating new knowledge and innovative technologies in additive and robotic manufacturing systems. This will include architecting, developing, validating, and implementing novel control algorithms for manufacturing automation.

This is a hybrid position with onsite work performed on equipment at our lab.  Some travel to client sites and industry conferences will be required.



As a key member of Ulendo’s technical team, you will:

  • Translate novel control methods from academic research into practical applications
  • Design, model, and simulate precision control systems using techniques involving feedforward and feedback control
  • Support new product development with custom instrument implementation and design
  • Perform analysis and simulation of mechanical/mechatronic systems and novel control algorithms
  • Consult on machine structural and dynamic system requirements
  • Help build and troubleshoot machine designs
  • Investigate the cost, effectiveness and scope of machine designs and compensation algorithms
  • Contribute to system-level performance discussions and design reviews
  • Specify, document, and procure components for mechatronic systems such as controllers, amplifiers, actuators, and sensors
  • Embrace the challenge of solving difficult technical problems



You will be a stellar candidate for this position with the following:

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics or robotics; PhD preferred
  • Ability to

–read and understand scientific literature in controls and mechatronics

–invent and problem-solve

–apply algorithm research to real systems

–work in lab environments and participate in hands-on activity

  • Experience with

–MATLAB/Simulink system modeling and controller design

–developing new ways of designing or controlling machines

–implementing novel control algorithms based on academic research on physical hardware, e.g., on robots or other machines



Additional characteristics that enable you to make an even bigger immediate impact:

  • Publication of first-author articles on controls or mechatronics in top-tier, peer reviewed journals or conferences
  • Demonstrated understanding of the advanced control methods (particularly the filtered basis functions approach used in key Ulendo software: ( Duan, M., Yoon, D., & Okwudire, C. E. (2018).
