Our Applications Engineers in our Additive Manufacturing group facilitate sales and marketing activities as well as provide on-going customer support functions for the additive manufacturing product line. This is an on-site role with up to 60% travel required.

Support sales, marketing and engineering activities by leveraging expertise in 3D CAD and AM print preparation software and using Renishaw Metal AM machines.
Support regional marketing efforts with the creation of case study materials.
Support new customer adoption of metal AM technology by providing advice on product design, process parameters and key operating metrics.
Support existing customers in basic troubleshooting of process related errors.
Regularly operate additive manufacturing machines in the Renishaw AM Solutions Center.
Regularly operate post-processing equipment related to the above.
Devise, conduct and examine basic experiments of process capability, e.g. laser parameter development for bulk density with Archimedes density checks to verify.
Produce documented collateral in support of above activities.
Attend trade shows and assist in their preparation alongside dedicated marketing personnel
Provide operator training across Renishaw’s AM hardware and software product portfolio locally and off-site at customer facilities.
All other duties as assigned.
Approximately 60% travel requirement.

 

Education and Experience – Minimum

Diploma or Associates Degree in an electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering related field.
Ability to demonstrate competence with fundamental engineering-related mathematical operations e.g., algebra and trigonometry.
Must be a US citizen or Legal Permanent Resident in order to meet US ITAR requirements.
Valid US driver’s license.

Education and Experience – Preferred

3 years’ work experience in a technical role.
Certification of ability in any 3D printing technology.
Certification of ability in a manufacturing technology e.g., CNC, welding, fabrication etc.

Competencies, Knowledge and Skills

Experience with and comfort with public speaking and presenting.
Basic understanding of 3D CAD/CAM software and its use.
Basic understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.
Familiarity with mechanics and materials e.g. Hooke’s law, Stress/Strain relations, Fatigue etc.
Ability to operate machinery with instruction.
Familiar and comfortable with the use of common hand tools.
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in an efficient and timely manner.
Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office products e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally:

Exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of intense conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

This position is very active and requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items over 90 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Extensive travel by air and road.
