RapidFlight is an integrated designer and manufacturer of unmanned aircraft. We are pioneers in airframe engineering rooted in our core tenets of shape, speed, and strength. Through rapid solutions development and additive manufacturing, we unleash agility and deliver performance. Our flexible and responsive systems are built to achieve operational success.

This position is located in Manassas, VA. Candidate must be within commuting distance or willing to relocate.

The Additive Manufacturing Technician will join RapidFlight’s growing technician team, and will work closely with our Engineering, R&D, and Prototyping groups as part of a world-class aircraft design team. In this role, you will be responsible for day-to-day operations of a 3D printer cluster/farm with no less than 10 FDM printers.

As an Additive Manufacturing Technician, you will manage, operate, and maintain FDM type 3D printers in your area of responsibility. You will also be responsible for providing status on the availability of these machines on a regular basis, and initiate call to action for any repairs or modifications necessary to assure overall cluster/farm operations. You will be in charge of, and be responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of consumables (such as material filaments, resins, etc.) and spares (e.g. hot ends, nozzles, etc.) needed to keep the printer cluster operational.

Learning is one of the core values at RapidFlight. Because additive manufacturing is a quickly developing technology, we expect the additive manufacturing technicians to increase their awareness and expertise of additive manufacturing technologies, material choices, as well as related software suites. Furthermore, you will be given the opportunity to learn and perform other prototyping and testing work and be invited to learn from other experts in the company. These opportunities may include CNC machining, composites lamination, bonding, jigging, welding, testing of material and assemblies and broad exposure to aircraft development and operations.

Additive Manufacturing Technician is a key contributor to the broad efforts of the engineering and design teams. As such, our teams rely on the additive manufacturing technicians to advocate for software and equipment updates, improvements, and process changes to best meet the demands of the business and continue innovation within this core discipline.
