This role is targeting a manufacturing engineer who will work as part of a manufacturing engineering team that will design, document, and improve the manufacturing environment following the directives of senior leadership. Partner productively with other departments and engineers in team projects, i.e. a “lone wolf” type is not what we are looking for. Specific representative and potential projects (all of which are expected to be collaborations.

Responsibilities:

  • Model, monitor, analyze and improve factory processes including assembly, functional testing, and membrane production.
  • Assemble the first 3 QLS (laser sintering 3D printer)
  • Document the assembly process
  • Design the manufacturing area to sustain company demand in the given space for the QLS
  • Create process map of each facet of manufacturing. This map is to then be analyzed to find potential bottle necks, cost cutting opportunities, or key areas in need of improvement.
  • Design and layout of new production lines, including specification and sourcing support for factory equipment, and built-in quality.
  • Work closely with product engineering and provide Design for Manufacture and Assembly feedback in early development phases.
  • This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all OSHA, Cal/OSHA, local laws, and internal policy for manufacturing related safety items.
  • Implement, enforce, and monitor daily 5S practices within the manufacturing, and fulfillment area.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and machine problems on the production line.
  • Document all product system failures and provide troubleshooting guide/training to manufacturing technicians.

Qualifications:

  • At least a BS in Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of low volume, low mix manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Demonstrate past experience being a self-starter and able to manage their own project.
  • Experience implementing new product into new or existing manufacturing lines.
  • This person should have a solid understanding of standard work, and manufacturing assembly methods and documentation.
