Process/Quality develops new and/or improves existing processes for coating of plastic or rubber products. This person must have extensive working knowledge of design, function, specification, and installation of coating systems in a manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate should have 3+ years of experience optimizing coating equipment, specifying coating equipment on capital installations, and developing new coating methods and techniques that deliver improved yield, throughput, or quality.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots membrane process issues affecting production output
  • Conducts coating process optimization utilizing continuous improvement tools that improves cost, output, yield & quality
  • Investigates, recommends, and implements processes and/or equipment improvements to improve production costs, quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Works on cross-functional new product teams consisting of R&D scientists, engineers, and technician.
  • Provides technical support and expertise during design, install, start-up, and preliminary production runs of new processes.
  • Provides technical training, operating guidelines, procedures, and standard operating procedures to new process and process implementation.
  • Knowledgeable in wet chemistry and common quality control testing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirements

  • BS or higher in Engineering or Science Discipline
  • 1+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient with chemistry-related analytical technologies and understand the operation of the analysis instrumentation tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemist, Physics, Material Science or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience as a Process Engineer working in thin film coating
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: Polymer science, colloid science, coatings, materials science, surfactant chemistry, rheology, microscopy, statistics & experimental design.
  • Knowledge of polymer binder technologies including material selection and slurry mixing techniques is a bonus.
