As Principal Software Engineer, you will play a lead, hands-on role on the Software team that is focused on FATHOM’s suite of software tools for advanced manufacturing.  The application suite allow customers to upload 3D CAD files for building, efficiently support processing of build files and collects business and process information from 3d-printers. We are expanding this suite of applications and looking for a key individual to help build and drive development.  Ideal candidates will have leadership and web development experience, along with a can-do attitude and passion for the additive manufacturing space.

Responsibilities:

  • Development and architecture of our FATHOM web platform
  • Perform complete testing of applications–unit and system, engaging users as necessary
  • Conduct all user acceptances testing, and report results
  • Design and implement user-driven templates, databases and interfaces for ease of use
  • Develop database-driven Web interfaces for rapid, real-time information sharing
  • Lead and provide project management services for multiple projects

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience in XHTML/CSS/JavaScript, NodeJS and MongoDB
  • Candidate should be an experienced PHP developer and knowledgeable with SQL
  • Server administration knowledge
  • Experience and/or knowledge of MeteorJS, 3D CAD software and applications a bonus
  • Strong grasp of at least two domains (e.g. front-end, back-end, mobile, testing, machine learning, databases, CI/CD, etc.)
  • Knowledge of common edge cases in those domains
  • Acts as a source of knowledge for respective domains, and can disseminate information and best practices regarding those domains
  • Awareness of industry trends and frameworks in domains of expertise, and can provide guidance and analysis for forward-looking technical challenges
  • Leads, mentors and supports other team members
  • Proactively provides and solicits feedback during code review and design sessions
  • Able to identify nebulous problem spaces and to determine what is needed to clarify and de-risk them
  • Can break down large, complicated tasks into discrete, measurable, simpler tasks
  • Able to delegate and distribute work amongst team members when needed
  • Can provide in-depth risk and trade-off analysis for business/product guidance
  • Can identify, and help solve, deficiencies to deliver tasks on schedule
