Job Title: Senior Process Engineer – Extrusion

We are currently looking to fill a Senior Process Engineer positions to support our production team in Austin, TX.

Job Overview:

The purpose of this role is to support the filament production team with process development and process improvement projects aimed at improving quality, throughput, and capability. This opening is for candidates with significant direct plastics extrusion experience only. Experience in other plastics processing but not thermoplastic extrusion will not be considered.

Job Summary:

This person will be working on a daily basis with the Production and Materials Development departments to drive process improvements for making and developing innovative products for use in additive manufacturing. They are expected to develop, implement, and supervise ongoing technical operations support for the extrusion process and manufacturing issues.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Lead engineering support for the extrusion production process at our plant in Pflugerville, TX in the Greater Austin area.
  • Provide technical, operational, and engineering support for the filament production process, driving improvement projects to reduce scrap, improve efficiency, and productivity
  • Help develop new filament products with manufacturing development efforts
  • Research and make recommendations for new and additional equipment and infrastructure via various sources to improve operations and increase innovation
  • Develop OEE program and other quality improvement initiatives

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related field

Experience & Skills Required:

5+ years of plastic extrusion manufacturing experience is required. Technical expertise to troubleshoot and provide process support with working/hands-on knowledge.

Six Sigma training and certifications, plant supervisory experience, being well-versed in plant operations, maintenance, and strong emphasis on safety is desired.

Physical Demands and Environmental Factors:

Working in a manufacturing environment and being on your feet for multiple hours of the day. May require long hours or irregular hours based on the needs of different shifts. Some occasional travel may be required.

Cross-functional Partnerships:  

This role will interact on a daily basis with Production, Quality, Facilities, and Materials Development. Additionally, this role will work on a cross-functional team involved in production analytics and data management. This person will report to the EVP of Filaments & Logistics.
