The role:

Head of Sales

Permanent, full-time

Location – Chalgrove, Oxfordshire with some remote working

We have a flexible hybrid model where we expect everyone to work in our Chalgrove office in Oxfordshire at least 3 days per week. This is to continue building relationships, collaborating and developing our team.


Main purpose of the job

E3D are looking for an exceptional entrepreneurial candidate to act as the driving force of value creation, leading the commercialisation of an early-stage technology company along their go-to-market journey.

You will join an established company with accomplished technical founders who have already developed a range of products and established an enviable market position as innovators who push the boundaries in the 3D printing markets.

Over the last 7 years sales have been strong, and the brand is positioned well to capitalise on growth.  With the launch of the new Revo range and exciting next generation products in the pipeline, you will be working with the team on product launch, testing, and commercialisation.

As Head of Sales, you will take the products to market, establish strong customer relationships with B2B players, lead hands-on contract negotiations and build out the sales function. You will need to be confident speaking with international companies and key stakeholders to drive sales forward. This role will be pivotal to the continued success story of E3D.

Main tasks of the job

  • Deliver strategic commercial objectives in terms of growth, EBITDA and margin return.
  • Continually develop and improve the sales strategy for the business, with specific emphasis on value, profitability, and growth.
  • Develop, implement, plan and set challenging commercial growth targets with the Managing Director, to drive the business to achieve growth in all key strategic product segments.
  • Work with Key Account Managers to identify and grow sales with existing multinational businesses, whilst building longer term relationships and improving contractual positions.
  • Actively participate and advise the MD and commercial teams in building stronger relationships with all customers (at all levels), with particular emphasis on OEM & Reseller accounts.
  • Target and deliver additional ‘3D printer component’ business opportunities and facilitate business development projects into profitable long term, commercial contracts.
  • Review commercial projects with the R&D Team to ensure they are in-line with agreed targets & objectives.
  • Review existing customer, segment and product profitability and set challenging targets for the Sales Managers, which will significantly improve the overall group’s profitability.
    Measure and monitor all new commercial leads and ensure contract success rates are improved year on year.
  • Review all new commercial contracts, ensuring contractual terms meet group financial aspirations.
    Identify all key price and consequential loss risk concerns through the use and adoption of a commercial contract template.
  • Formalise external customer benchmarking on E3D commercial performance versus customer expectations and versus the competition. Reviews results and implement actions to improve the overall position of E3D into the Best in Class by 2023.
  • Drive strong commercial communication across the Sales organisation – delivering strong teamwork and ensuring a consistent approach to meeting key strategic target.
  • Mentor commercial resources in the achievement of the Company’s vision.
  • Work with the HR Manager to ensure ‘Commercial Skills’ across team are commensurate with the need to achieve new and challenging targets. This includes training, retention & recruitment.
