Position: Senior Materials Characterization Engineer

The purpose of the role is to support the development of new alloys through mechanical testing, fractography, powder blending and characterization and metallurgical assessment; conduct material studies via advanced material characterization techniques including, but not limited to, EDS, EBSD, XRD and ICP; conduct failure analyses; document technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures; and follow defined laboratory procedures and processes and help to create/improve them where needed. Experience with laboratory management is preferred.

What You’ll Do:
– Execute mechanical testing, including but not limited to, uniaxial tensile test, rotating beam fatigue test, dynamic modulus measurement, and density measurement
– Blend and characterize metallic powders
– Carry out metallurgical preparation, metallography, and fractography
– Conduct material studies with advanced material characterization techniques
– Ensure proper documentation and upkeep of technical data, laboratory procedures, and materials

What You’ll Have:
– Bachelor degree in Engineering with 5 years of working experience, or Masters degree in Engineering with 2-3 years of working experience in Materials Science and Engineering or Metallurgy
– Experience with mechanical testing and standards
– Hands-on experience with SEM a must
– Metallography specimen preparation
– Microscopy techniques and standards
– Laboratory management (preferred)
– Able to work on-site
– Able to climb up and down the staircase
– Able to lift and carry 30+ lbs
