Website Divergent

Divergent is on a mission to democratize the design and manufacture of vehicles. We want to enable a future where small entrepreneurial teams across the globe will bring increasingly material and energy efficient transportation solutions to market with a fraction of the capital and time.

Divergent has invented a complete manufacturing solution to address system level challenges.  The Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS) is a complete software hardware solution designed to replace traditional vehicle manufacturing.  To make the complex simple, it is a complete modular digital factory for complex structures. Given a set of digital requirements as input, the machine automatically computationally engineers, additively manufactures, and assembles any complex structure.  The system is able to move seamlessly between manufacturing different vehicle models.

Your Role: Sr. Chassis Durability Test Engineer

Divergent is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Chassis Durability Test Engineer to conduct chassis and suspension test campaigns, using a servo-hydraulic test equipment Design and execute tests in support in order to validate analytical models. This role at Divergent 3D requires creative, out of the box thinking and a hands-on approach. In house testing of components and materials will require broad knowledge that spans multiple competencies.

What You’ll Do:

•        Develop and conduct in-house and customer program strength and durability tests – test planning, instrumentation install, data acquisition programming, hydraulic tuning and automation, data post-processing
•        Program hydraulic control systems in order to execute automotive component and subassembly fatigue tests
•        Act as a liaison between Design Engineering and Test and Validation in order to develop test plans/procedures based on load requirements
•        Work with data acquisition and control systems to record test data
•        Troubleshoot hardware and software issues found during test procedures
•        Keep track of test equipment and sensor calibrations
•        Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists for proper operation and maintenance of hydraulic systems
•        Root-cause test failures in conjunction with structural design engineers to implement improvements and best practices moving forward
•        Track and understand D3D’s internal testing capabilities
•        Provide feedback to engineering teams on results of tests
•        Program and use data loggers for various sensor input types (preferably NI Data Loggers)
•        Prepare test specimen with proper instrumentation
•        Design and build test fixtures as needed
