The Machine Operator position serves a vital role in the operation and maintenance of both additive manufacturing machinery and ancillary equipment within the AM group. The Machine Operator position utilizes a hands-on role and offers critical insight into the daily machinery/equipment functions that may not be well-understood by AM Programmers, AM Applications, and/or management.



Operate, maintain, and improve additive manufacturing machines following a standardized workflow that maximizes part quality, machine up-time and production throughput.
Execute loading/unloading of machine raw materials, and other machinery and equipment consumables.
Understand, follow, and continuously improve upon process documentation, and conduct other activities which promote defect-free products, configuration control, and traceability.
Initiate, monitor, and complete builds on various additive machines (spanning numerous technologies), and materials.
Remove support materials from additively manufactured parts with meticulous attention-to-detail.
Diagnose, maintain, and/or repair machinery and equipment; expertise in this area is expected to critically aid improving these processes, and maintenance schedules to minimize down-time, and maximize part quality.
Identify and report off-nominal processes and part-defects, with clear and concise documentation and communication to appropriate engineering personnel.
Meet and attempt to exceed quality, and schedule expectations through clear communication.
Track consumables, supplies, and raw materials, and actively maintain ownership of related purchasing activities.
Maintain and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and proactively identify any related shortcomings.
Identify job hazard analysis (JHA) shortcomings and aid in their authorship.
Practice safe work place techniques.

Associate’s Degree (2 yr) in a relevant technical discipline with 4 year minimum hands-on manufacturing experience; or six years’ minimum relevant hands-on manufacturing experience.
An attitude of world-class quality, attention to detail, and dedication.
Demonstrated track record of resourcefulness from their previous assignments.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Experience working with 3D printing technology in any capacity.
Experience working with polymers and composite materials in a manufacturing setting.
