Batch.Works is an industry 4.0 design and manufacture studio, building a network of 3D printing factories to divert material away from landfill and into meaningful products. In collaboration with a software partner we are developing automation and AI technologies to create a Sustainable Smart Factory.

The role

As the lead engineer on this project you will be working together with the Head of R&D to build an innovation engineering team, capable of bringing our pioneering ideas about sustainable production to life.

You and your team will be working in collaboration to deliver groundbreaking advances in additive manufacturing that will feed directly into the Batch.Works existing production model.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the hardware development of the Batch.Works Sustainable Smart Factories project.
  • Managing a team of (Initially 4) engineers
  • Build and assemble prototypes
  • Testing and evaluating your designs
  • Work autonomously, planning and owning your work, but seek support and approvals where necessary

Requirements:

  • BEng or higher in an engineering discipline (mechatronics, electrical, mechanical)
  • 3+ designing/developing electromechanical products or systems
  • Good knowledge of AI and Machine Learning
  • Good knowledge of additive manufacturing
  • Fluent in a relevant 3D modelling software (we use fusion 360)
  • Good understanding of relevant safety standards
  • Good problem-solving skills

Desirables:

  • Experience managing a team in a commercial environment (good managerial skills)
  • Experience in hiring engineers
  • Experience with agile and scrum management
  • Understanding of electronics and control systems
  • Experience with embedded C++, python or other programming languages
