Additive Manufacturing Specialists work directly with current and future customers to help them get the most value out of our products, and 3D printing/additive manufacturing in general. As members of the Applications Engineering group, this position involves maintaining and expanding our materials portfolio as well as refining print processing techniques and developing applications for our technology. Folks in this role act as subject matter experts to internal teams to help improve the range of products and services we offer.

Responsibilities

Perform pre-sales consulting for application evaluation and validation

  • interfacing with Sales Rep and potential customers
  • application evaluation
  • material recommendation
  • calculation of custom sample quotes
  • production of custom samples (slicing, printing, and post-processing)

Perform post-sales consulting for application evaluation and validation

  • interface with Customer Account Reps and Customer
  • troubleshoot print process
  • application evaluation and expansion
  • material recommendation
  • education of Customer

Maintain and expand materials portfolio

  • test new materials
  • develop and adjust material profiles
  • build and maintain relationships with material suppliers

Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in materials and print processing

  • support requests from Training, Documentation, Marketing/Sales, Engineering
  • author white papers on customer case studies
  • support tradeshow activities by operating the machines and interfacing with potential customers

Qualifications

  • Formal education in polymers (Materials Engineering/Science, Chemical Engineering/Chemistry, etc.) or equivalent experience with polymer processing
  • Experience in additive manufacturing/3D printing using Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) technology (1+ years)

Nice to haves

  • Knowledge of systems or tools: Simplify3D (slicer), STL or mesh editing
  • Experience with high temperature materials in FFF (PEI, PEEK, PEKK, etc.)
  • Experience with the AON-M2 or AON-M2 2020 machines
  • Experience with final Quality Control of parts or parts qualification
