Highest volume production metal 3D printing in the world

The Company

High-volume metal additive manufacturing is a reality at 3DEO. Using our proprietary printing technology and software-enabled manufacturing process we remove the limitations imposed by traditional processes, enabling cost- competitive production that is unmatched in precision, surface finish, and scale in the 3D printing industry.

3DEO is more than a machine manufacturer. We are super- users of our own product and have created a world-class production facility optimized for our printers. This system starts and stops with Jarvis OS, 3DEO’s proprietary software backbone. Jarvis imports CAD models and uses in-house computational geometry to convert them into digital work instructions for 3D printers and robotic automation. It then monitors and controls the manufacturing process from end- to-end, using real-time feedback to drive efficiency and reduce overhead. We’ve shipped over 1 Million parts in two years of industrialization and are poised to ship well over that number in 2022.

Come join a highly collaborative and highly skilled team at one of the fastest-growing 3D printing companies in the world. Help us revolutionize manufacturing.

Reporting To : Applications Engineering Manager

The Position

We are searching for a passionate, motivated, innovative individual looking to make an impact in a high-tech environment by stepping into the crucial applications engineering position. Applications engineers are the bridge between the production team and the sales team, as well as the primary customer-facing technical resources for the company. This is a full-time position.

The Applications Engineer will work directly with sales to qualify customer part opportunities for technical and business-case viability, and directly with internal engineering and operations teams to guide development of each part into high-volume production.

Specifically, the Applications Engineer will:

  • Become an expert in 3DEO’s printing technology and manufacturing process, as well as the competitive landscape.
  • Identify good-fit customer parts from a technical and business case perspective.
  • Lead customer design review calls, ultimately pricing out production parts and acting as approving authority for all incoming business.
  • Review technical drawings, modify tolerances and requirements to meet functional needs while ensuring manufacturability.
  • Educate customers on 3DEO’s capabilities.
  • Limited travel to customer sites as technical authority.
  • Identify customer-driven opportunities to push the existing boundaries of our technology.
  • Manage development of new parts from first print, through first article shipment, into full-scale production.
  • Liaise between internal engineers and customer engineers/buyers/quality to ensure technical success of every production program.

The Person

An undergraduate engineering degree is required and a master’s degree is a plus. The Applications Engineer should have 2-5 years of experience, including:

  • Improvement minded, outside-the-box thinking— demonstrated ability to bring unique solutions to challenging problems.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments with an understanding of quality systems, statistical process control, LEAN/Six Sigma, and FAI/PPAP.
  • Experience in manufacturing metal parts and an understanding of available methods/processes.
  • Experience in production additive manufacturing, especially in regulated industries (medical, aerospace, defense), is a big plus.
  • Strong grasp of GD&T and the ability to read, analyze, and author engineering drawings.
  • Hands on experience with 3D modeling: parametric design and analysis of solid models (e.g. in Solidworks), as well as manipulation of .STL/.3MF mesh files.
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner, both writing and speaking. Experience in a customer-facing role is a big plus.
  • Ability to lead complex projects with interdisciplinary stakeholders and a track record of successful execution meeting tightly defined requirements. Project management experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of metallurgical properties of various metal alloys, plus heat-treatment and sintering processes.
